The Dangerous Health Epidemic Even Your Doctor Doesn’t Know About

By Yuri Elkaim

You wouldn’t knowingly bathe in a pool of toxins or set out to ravage your blood, deplete your your energy-producing cells, or perhaps worst of all…

…willingly increase your risk of diseases like cancer and osteoporosis, would you?

Of course not.

But right this very moment, there’s a little-known epidemic that is likely robbing your health, draining your energy, weakening your bones, and even forcing your body to store fat…

The Controversial Nobel Prize Winning Discovery That Started It All…

Did you know that in 1931 a groundbreaking and Nobel Prize winning discovery revealed something that doctors and scientists never suspected…

That discovery?

Cancer can only grow in a specific type of environment inside the body. An environment where cancer cells are fueled, not be oxygen, but by fermenting sugar. (1)

These initial findings spurred later research by another prominent physicist, Dr. Keith Brewer, who found that cancer cells share ONE THING in common, no matter the type of cancer:

They have lost their ability to control pH. (2)

pH is simply a numeric scale used to specify the acidity or alkalinity of a particular fluid environment. Human blood, for instance, requires a tightly regulated alkaline pH of between 7.35 to 7.45. If it dips any lower (more acidic), serious problems can develop.

Dr. Brewer concluded that since cancer cells only grow in an acidic, oxygen-depleted environment these same cancer cells would die if pushed into an alkaline, oxygenated state.

Even though these initial studies were cancer-related, they have gone on to prove their merit in improving all aspects of your health. Keep reading to see for yourself.

BUT FAIR WARNING

As eye-opening as these initial discoveries were, the medical community has largely ignored them for the better part of 70+ years!

Even when I appeared on the Dr. Oz Show to discuss this topic a little while ago, the show’s medical advisors weren’t comfortable with me sharing what you’re about to learn here!

And as those early studies have continued to get tucked under the rug (thanks to pharmaceutical companies who want you on their drugs)…

You’re unlikely to find a medical doctor today who will even acknowledge the role acid-alkaline balance plays in your health.

But considering the worsening health of the modern world, there’s never been a more important time than NOW to understand this “hidden epidemic” so it doesn’t claim your health, your vitality…or worse…your life!

The choice is yours: you can go about listening to traditional advice that simply hasn’t worked (it if did, why would we continue seeing rising obesity and cancer rates?) OR…

You can continue reading the rest of this important article to discover an important truth that is your god-given right to know about.

I Suffered For Years So You Don’t Have To

My name is Yuri Elkaim. I’m a New York Times bestselling author, holistic nutritionist, and sought-after health and fitness expert. However, for nearly 20 years, I suffered with little to no energy and an onslaught of health issues, including losing all of my hair to an autoimmune condition at just 17 years old!

But all of that changed when I discovered the power of acid-alkaline balance. Since that discovery more than 12 years ago, I now enjoy bulletproof health, I have more energy than ever, and I’ve helped over 500,000 people to similar results with what I’m about to share with you here.

I’m sick and tired of seeing well-intentioned people like you struggle, give up hope on their dreams, or compromise their health by relying on drugs and old school advice that does more harm than good.

That’s why I’m sharing this important information with you here.

The Real Truth About What’s Making Us Sick, Tired, and Fat

It’s sad but true…

Today’s fast-paced lifestyle is characterized by rushing around in a high-stress frenzy, relying on caffeine and sugar-filled snacks, and consuming more prepackaged/processed “fast” food than ever before.

The modern lifestyle is extremely ACIDIC!

You see, MOST foods in the American diet are highly acidic, and unless we can buffer all that acid with alkalizing fruits and vegetables, we’re sure to experience some rather uncomfortable consequences like these: (3,4,5)

  • Fatigue, feeling sluggish, tired and “heavy”
  • Increased cravings, especially for sweets
  • Excess body fat and trouble losing weight
  • Skin issues
  • Brain fog
  • Weak and frail bones
  • Joint discomfort
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Digestive distress

But what specifically causes excess acid, and what can you do about it?

Scientists determine whether or not a food is acidic or alkaline using what’s called Potential Acid Renal Load (PRAL):

PRAL = [protein + phosphorus] – [magnesium + potassium + calcium]

As the equation states, any food that contains more protein and phosphorus compared to magnesium, potassium, and calcium will be acidic. Below is a list of foods followed by their PRAL (per 100g).

NOTE: A negative score indicates that the food is more alkaline.

In the short list of foods mentioned above you can see that vegetables and fruit are alkaline-forming, while most grains, nuts, seeds, and animal products are acid forming.

Thus, the American diet is extremely acidic in nature because it’s high in these foods:

  • ALL grains (pastas, breads, pastries, crackers, cereals, rice, oats, etc.)
  • Refined sugars and sugary foods
  • Animal meats
  • Cheese and dairy
  • Alcohol
  • Soft drinks
  • Coffee & other caffeinated beverages
  • Most sweeteners (both natural & artificial)
  • Common condiments like as mustard, ketchup, etc…

If you’re anything like me, you do your best to eat healthy.

But let’s be honest: we eat many of the foods listed above more often than we’d like, don’t we?

Then, there are other causes of excessive acid build up in the body, such as stress, an inactive lifestyle, and environmental toxins.

Living this “modern” lifestyle is the catalyst for the creation of a ticking time bomb inside your body.

This “Time Bomb” is ACIDOSIS And It’s The
Root Cause of Many Illnesses and Diseases

As mentioned earlier, every cell in your body must remain within a specific pH level (pH is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of the body) in order to function properly.

If your body becomes acidic, it will begin to set up defense mechanisms to keep the damaging acid from entering your vital organs. For this reason, your pH is tightly regulated.

This is essential because when your pH levels fall out of their optimal range, the important systems in your body don’t function properly, some even fail.

To illustrate how critical maintaining the proper pH is I will use blood as an example. Human blood must remain between a pH of 7.35 and 7.45 (which is slightly alkaline) in order to function properly.

If it falls even slightly out of this range… you will die!

When your blood is slightly alkaline your red blood cells are better able to deliver oxygen throughout your body. This is absolutely crucial and links back to those award-winning discoveries from the 1930s where they found that oxygen is required for healthy cells (and thus a healthy body) and literally stops cancer growth!

Oxygen is needed to produce energy. And since red blood cells deliver oxygen to your cells, anything that compromises the health of your blood or ruins your oxygen-carrying red blood cells will deplete your energy. Acidity does just that and that’s why it must be neutralized.

Otherwise, it can set the stage for diseases like cancer and several others like these…

Acidosis Destroys Your Bones,
Even If You Drink A Gallon Milk

One of the largest studies of our time – The Framingham Osteoporosis study – found that higher fruit and vegetable intake (alkaline foods) was significantly associated with stronger bones, while higher intake of protein and acid-forming foods was linked to greater bone loss! (6)

Let’s look at how this happens…

When your body is dealing with too much acid, it will do whatever it takes to get your pH level back to where it needs to be. One way your body accomplishes this is by calling upon a powerful alkaline mineral, calcium, to buffer acid buildup in the blood.

Calcium is mostly stored in your bones and teeth…until your body starts pulling it out of storage, much like being conscripted into the army (and having to leave your cozy home) to neutralize the bad guys.

Too much causes the calcium in your bones to be released into your bloodstream so it can restore pH levels. In order to do this, it forces bone destroying cells (called osteoclasts) to work harder and your bone building cells (called osteoblasts) to work less. As a result, your bones become weaker.

The good thing about this process is that it alkalizes your blood…and you stay alive. The bad part is that it creates a negative calcium balance in your body (more calcium is lost than is consumed) and your bones get weaker.

Numerous studies confirm that chronic acidosis is strongly associated with greater bone loss and the development of osteoporosis. (7,8)

But before you reach for that glass of milk to save your bones (another lie we’ve all been told)…

You should know this:

Although cow’s milk is a great source of calcium, it’s an even greater source of phosphorus – a mineral that inhibits calcium absorption in your body!

That’s something the milk commercials are not telling you.

Additionally, cow’s milk contains 4 times more protein than human breast milk. This is important because an overabundance of protein in the body, especially from animal sources, causes your pH levels to become more acidic.

If you want strong bones for life, then you may want to reconsider drinking cow’s milk and opt for almond milk or hemp milk instead. The former is a terrific source of both vitamin E and calcium without the nasty acidifying effects that you get with dairy.

Acidosis Creates “Stuck Fat”

A recent study of 1000 people conducted at the University of California demonstrated that overweight men and women store more acid in their fat cells than their healthy weight counterparts.

The reason this happens is because your body’s natural response to acidosis is to store excess acid in your fat cells. It’s your body’s way of protecting its delicate blood vessels and organs from being damaged by too much acid.

This process essentially creates “stuck fat” where it becomes very difficult to lose fat because your body needs it as a storage locker for all the acid.

If you want to lose weight, then you need to get rid of the acid first. We’ll look at how to do that in just a second.

If there is less acid in your body, it won’t need the fat to store it in. When your body is slightly alkaline, it will be more likely to “let go” of the stuck fat because it won’t need it anymore.

Make sense?

But there’s more to this fat problem then just “stuck fat”…

That’s because acidosis is perceived as a “stress” by your brain. This sends a signal to your adrenal glands, which causes them to release the stress hormone cortisol.

Now, in a state of chronic stress (from all that acid and cortisol), your brain’s main directive is to slow down your metabolism and conserve energy to ensure you survive – that’s the primitive wiring of the human brain.

If you’re in “conservation” mode, you’re storing fat…not burning it.

With all of that said, can you see why it’s a good idea to alkalize your body and balance out all that acid?

The good news is that it’s pretty easy to do…

How To Protect Yourself from This
Hidden Health Epidemic

A recent study in the British Journal of Nutrition concluded:

“The available research makes a compelling case that diet-induced acidosis is a real phenomenon, and has a significant, clinical, long-term pathophysiological effect that should be recognised and potentially counterbalanced by dietary means.” (9)

Thus, the #1 way to fight off acidosis is to eat more alkaline foods, which are essentially fruits and vegetables.

Recently, an article published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition compared the pre-agricultural diet of our ancestors to the modern North American diet.

The researchers found that the pre-agricultural diet had a tiny acid load of just -88mEq/day (more alkaline) while the modern diet had a much larger acid load of +48m Eq/day. (10)

As great as it would be to get back to the “good old ways” of eating like our ancestors with plenty of alkaline-rich, plant-based foods fresh from the earth, modern life makes that a little more challenging.

Are You Really Getting Enough…Honestly?

For most of us, eating enough fruits and vegetables to really make a significant impact (8-12 servings per day) is both impractical and inconvenient, not to mention extremely expensive, especially when you have to spend 2-3 times the price for organic produce to avoid high levels of pesticides that can easily cancel out the benefits of eating healthy.

I’m sure this all sounds rather overwhelming, and believe me, I can relate. Simply put, getting the recommended amount of fruits and veggies every single day is too impractical, inconvenient, and expensive for the average American to do with any kind of regularity.

And buying premade “green” juices at your local health food store is out of the question for most of us (up to $12 for a single drink). What’s worse is that most them are loaded with hidden sugars.

And how about juicing your own fruits and veggies at home?

Well, after spending $250 or more for a decent juicer, along with the ongoing cost of buying bushels of organic produce to juice… there’s the additional cost of your time: grocery shopping, washing, cutting, and preparing all that produce – and then cleaning up all the mess!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of juicing. But it’s simply way too expensive, time consuming, and inconvenient that I don’t even bother anymore.

Still, there’s no getting around the facts: we need to be consuming MORE alkaline nutrients each and every day, otherwise our body will be overrun by toxic acid build up, which plagues every aspect of your health and quality of life in a major way.

The GOOD NEWS, however, is that there IS a much easier, more convenient, considerably cheaper, and incredibly delicious alternative and it only takes about 30 seconds per day to consume.

And you can learn all about it on the next page
